Day 2 – Roosters and confessions

A grey, rainy morning broke into summer sunshine at Bective Abbey, raising the spirits and bringing a fortune in finds to Cutting H. Catriona Devane has been working overtime to keep up with the find registration. The stoney layer produced an array of medieval and post-medieval floor tiles. Our favourite is a line-impressed tile depicting a rooster. There is a lot of mortar turning up in the cutting which could mean we are close to finding some more of our medieval building. Nora has been busy recording audio snippets for the podcasts and some members of the team have been making some comments in the confession loo, iincluding some complaints about the tea! Cutting J is being de-sodded, the sods are proving to be quite stubborn. The Field lab  with Susan Lyons is in operation and open for business.

The 'recording studio' set up in the 'confession-loo'. We can speak in private to the microphone and share our innermost thoughts about the dig.
